A Day in the Park.
This week I had the pure joy of meeting one of my favorite REALTORS, Jessi Sgarlata. I have been coaching and brokering Jessi for the past 12 years and I have watched her become a wife and a mother of three while building an incredible successful real estate business. On the surface this may seem like an impossible prospect. While watching her children play as we talked under the shade of the cabana, I realized that she had found the secret.
Many books, Ted Talks and Speakers all over the world talk about how to create balance in your life. There is really no new discovery; just different words heard at the right time for the right people. If you are looking for a no pain way, you are going to be very disappointed. The way is not easy, but it is simple. MANAGE YOUR TIME. How many times have you been reminded to organize your time, so you have more of it? I am here to tell you, there is no more time to get! You have all the time there is!
So, what does this have to do with my day I the park with Jessi? Everything. How does one who has a successful team, serving an enormous amount of people each year have time on a Thursday to meet me with her three children in a park for two hours? She BLOCKS off the time in her calendar just like any other appointment. She arrives on time and turns her phone off. Can you believe it? No phones, just the interruption of three adorable children needing applause and hugs. When I left, I felt fulfilled and refreshed. I also felt incredibly connected with this dear friend after many months apart.
It takes discipline to make time for each person and activity in your life. Discipline is the trick to effective time blocking. Discipline is what it takes to make sure you not only do or be where you want, it requires you to focus and be present 100% in the time allotted for everything we do. You will be amazed at how much can be accomplished, even in 15 minutes, if you have no distractions.
Those you love will be content with less time, if you are fully present to them during the time you have together. You will have less guilt about doing your business and your relationships half-assed.
Throw your whole self into the task at hand and enjoy your life!
